Liposculpture - double chin and sagging jowls
Tired of sagging jowls and double chin? Have liposculpture and be back at work in 3 days.
Fullness in the neck and under the chin can be very resistant to dieting, and is surprisingly common even amongst young people. The jowls and double chin are very ageing. It can be hereditary and usually increases with age. Liposuction to the chin can greatly improve the look of the face, and even though only a small amount of fat is removed the improvement in appearance can be dramatic. Many people feel as though their face looks much younger after the treatment and friends and relatives comment on their rejuvenated appearance, not even realising that any procedure has been performed.
Liposculpture for chin and jowls
Jowls are small areas of fatty tissue in the lower part of the face which overhang the jaw. It is possible to reduce or eliminate these areas by careful liposuction to the face from the same small (2mm) incisions just below the jaw. The lower border of the face (jawline) looks much cleaner adding to the rejuvenated look.
Even if not much fatty tissue is removed with liposuction and the skin of the neck appears loose, liposuction will allow the skin to contract and so take on the shape of the jaw and the muscles of the neck.
Liposuction to the chin, neck and jowls is often referred to as the "3 day facelift" as this simple procedure can appear to produce a "facelift" by sharpening the jawline and removing excess fat from the neck and chin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is a candidiate for neck liposuction?
Anyone who has loose skin and fatty tissue in the neck. The procedure works well for people with a "double chin", for many people with a heavy jowl area and lower face and for people who lack definition to the lower jaw.
Is anyone not a good candidate?
Some people have loose neck muscles (platysma) or sometimes there is not a sharp angle between the angle of the jaw and the neck. These people will benefit from neck liposuction, but it may need to be combined with Botox injections or removal of some of the fatty tissue from below the platysma muscle itself.
Is it permanent?
Yes, the reduction in the size of the neck is permanent, even if your weight changes substantially.
Are there any scars?
The small access holes are 1-2mm wide. There are usually two per side and these settle very quickly. They are not sutured after the procedure and essentially are invisible after a couple of weeks.
What support garments are required?
A special light elastic neck garment is used for the first few days after the procedure and then at night only for a further 4 nights.
How long does the procedure take?
Most neck liposuction procedures take from between one and a half to two hours to complete.
How much time will I need off?
In general you should plan on taking 1-2 days off work or slightly longer if your work is active. It would be about 1 week before normal gym activities or jogging should be restarted.
And the cost?
The cost of this procedure varies according to the areas that require treatment and whether the area is treated alone or in conjunction with other areas, such as jowl and facial Liposuction. (This is most common.) For an accurate costing, please use the on-line consultation or make an appointment by phoning Palm Clinic on (09) 522 8128.
