Mouth Frown

Mouth frown refers to the downward looking mouth that results from facial sagging as we age.

Some people just naturally have a downward smile (like Graham Henry the All Black coach). This is usually caused by overactive muscles called depressor anguli oris which pull the corners of the mouth down.  More typically though it is caused by sagging of the facial skin which creates a fold which runs from the corner of the mouth to the chin called the oral commisure or Marionette line.

Treatment of the mouth frown involves a combination of treatments: Botox to slightly weaken the overactive muscle, dermal fillers to volumise the cheeks to pull the skin up and dermal fillers to volumise into the oral commissure.
