Treatments for Sagging Skin
Sagging skin is a problem for most people from the forties upward. It typically shows up in the face but many people develop sagging skin in the neck, chin and jowls, abdomen and thighs.
There are a range of possible treatments depending on the area involved include liposuction, tummy tuck, dermal fillers and Elos Polaris.
Sagging skin in the thighs can make the legs look as though there is a great deal of cellulite or the skin can hang particularly in the inner thigh. If this is a significant issue, the only realistic option is a plastic surgical procedure called a thigh lift.
Sagging skin on the abdomen is a common problem for post natal mothers and for those who have lost a lot of weight. If the sagging skin on the abdomen is due to excess weight this can be improved by liposuction. If the sagging skin causes an overhang a tummy tuck is often the better option.
Facial sagging is inevitable but there are many treatments available at Palm Clinic to reduce the effects of gravity.
Treatments range from volumising with dermal fillers, laser skin tightening, liposuction to chin and jowls, Nefertiti lift with Botox, or Fraxel Dual laser. All these options are available at Palm Clinic and the best treatments for you (including surgery) to produce the most natural result will be discussed. Decisions will often reflect budget and your tolerance for down time.
Our preference at Palm Clinic is for the most natural results which are often produced by volumising with dermal fillers.
As we age the upper eyelids tend to sag and in some people this can cause loss of visual field because the weight of the excess skin pushes the eyelid down or overlaps the eyelid.
The lower lids can also sag. The solution for baggy eyelids is a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and for this we would refer you to a plastic or opthalmic surgeon.
If you are not ready for eyelid surgery there are some non surgical options that can help to improve the appearance of the eyelids including Botox, dermal fillers and Fraxel Dual laser.
Chin and Jowls
The chin and jowls area is typically the first area of the face to show the effects of sagging.
This is due to sagging skin combined with the weight of fat in these areas. By removing the excess fat and stimulating skin tightening, liposuction can provide a much more youthful appearance. Skin tightening lasers can also be useful but to a less degree. Botox using the Nefertiti lift technique can make subtle improvements for those not bad enough for liposuction. Dermal fillers can take the emphasis away from the jowls. A face lift may be required where the sagging skin is excessive.
Your Palm Clinic doctor will discuss all the options and recommend the best treatment for you.
