Palm Clinic offers liposuction in Auckland for body contouring. We have extensive experience performing liposuction with over 1100 cases completed involving over 2500 body areas.
Liposuction vs Liposculpture
Here at Palm Clinic we specialise in liposculpture which specifically concentrates on body contouring. The technique is performed under local anaesthetic known as “tumescent liposuction”. This avoids the risks and longer recovery period associated with general anaesthesia, resulting in minimum downtime. Most people can return to work in three days. Dr John Barrett and Ms Alison Hayes both trained with Dr Jeffrey Klein in California who invented the tumescent liposuction technique. Liposuction is widely performed throughout the world and is now one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Genuine liposuction before and after photos are available in the Before & After Image Gallery. Dr Barrett also trained with the originators of liposuction, Dr Giorgio Fischer from Rome and Dr Pierre Fournier from Paris.
Modern liposuction really came of age when it was transformed by Dr Jeffrey Klein of San Juan Capistrano, California. In 1985 he developed what is now called the tumescent technique in which a local anaesthetic solution is used to numb the tissue before the procedure is commenced. This solution vastly reduces bleeding during the procedure which has significantly improved patient outcomes.
Areas of the Body suitable for Liposuction/Liposculpture
Liposuction can be performed on virtually any area of the body where there is excess fat. The most popular areas for those wanting liposuction are the tummy, hips (“love handles”), waist, thighs and chest.
Refined Contour with Liposculpture
More refined results are possible with tumescent liposuction (often referred to as liposculpture) which improves the overall result. The figure can be truly sculpted. Liposuction at Palm Clinic has a high rate of patient satisfaction. Compression garments are required to reduce bruising and swelling and are usually worn for around 3 days. Most people can return to work thereafter.
Different Techniques of Liposuction
In some cases of liposuction, laser or ultrasound can be used to make fat easier to remove. These techniques add additional cost to the procedure, require larger incisions and can be associated with risks such as burns, seromas (fluid collections) and infection. As such these techniques are not currently offered at Palm Clinic.
At the initial consultation, the Doctor will assess your concerns, examine you and make recommendations on what would be the best areas to treat for maximum outcome. This may include an ultrasound assessment of areas such as breasts, ankles and calves to determine how much fat is available for liposuction. They will explain the risks of liposuction, post treatment requirements and go through a full consent process. You will be provided with a fully inclusive quote for liposuction based on their findings. At the end of the consultation you should have all the information you need to consider whether you wish to proceed.
Costs of Liposuction
Costs of liposuction or liposculpture vary enormously depending on the combination of areas requested, the size of the area to be treated and the likely length of the procedure. If there are a lot of areas to treat, occasionally you may need more than one treatment. An initial consultation is essential to provide you with an accurate quote. At Palm Clinic we will honour this for six months so you do not feel rushed to make a decision.
